PRELIM EVALUATION

Question 1:

What have you learnt about the importance of research and planning?
Research and planning was one of the most significant events of the prelim task. It made us set a final decision of what song we would be filming to. We analysed various music videos to help us find out what would fit into the genre of our song e.g. costume, location and cuts. We choose the song Fancy by Iggy Azalea and Charlie XCX as the narrative was easy to follow and it fit our location: school. But i have most importantly learnt that planning out each scene was vital as our group soon became confused and lacking in time.

Question 2:

What technology did you use to complete the task and how did you use it?
We used the school cameras to film some scenes however we had to change half way through due to camera difficulties. We started to use our iphones as they were easier to use and save footage. However the iphone footage may have seemed less professional compared to the school cameras provided. We then used Final Cut Pro on the macs. This helped us edit and add music to our video but not all of us found using Final Cut Pro easy.

Question 3:

Did you encounter any difficulties? If so, what were they and how did you overcome them?
As we worked in a big team it was hard for us to find the time everyone was free. So we planned days which we were all able to attend and filmed on those days. We also found the cameras slightly difficult to use as some had low battery or defaults. So we used our Iphones or another camera provided. It was also difficult to find the right footage which had good quality for Final Cut Pro but we finally achieved the task.

Question 4:

How successful was your music video? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently?
I feel our music video was successful however could of had more improvement due to the lack of planning and time count. However i feel we worked well in a team to overcome difficult situations and filming. I would defiantly change how we planned our music video and paid attention to the time.

What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your advanced portfolio, do you think?
I have learnt that planning for our music video was very important and would help us achieve a successful music video. But i also learnt how to use the school cameras and Final Cut Pro. This will be significant as i will be able to plan to a higher standard and use the technology confidently.
